The Cosmic Algorithm: Understanding Dashas and Transits as Rhythms of the Soul

By Vaishnavi Kolhapure

There’s something subtle that governs the flow of our lives. We can’t always see it, but we often feel it.

In today’s world, we are familiar with the idea of algorithms, invisible systems that decide timing, movement, and visibility. The one reel we like on instagram, and we suddenly start seeing the similar content in our feed.

So, whether it’s social media, seasons, or farming – timing matters.

And so it is with our own inner life.

In Vedic astrology, the concept of Dashas (planetary periods) and Transits (Gochar) act like the soul’s algorithm. They offer us a map, not of what must happen, but of what is ready to unfold.

Just like posting a reel or sharing a photo on instagram, we ask: “What time is best to post this for maximum engagement?”.  We intuitively align with the algorithm to get the best outcome – not because we’re forced to, but because it simply makes sense.

Now imagine your soul has an algorithm too – written by karma, guided by planetary rhythms, and always shifting like a tide. That’s what Dashas and Transits are. Always asking “Are you ready to experience this in your life?”

Imagine a farmer who does not honor the seasons. He plants seeds in winter, expecting them to bloom. He harvests too early or waters when the soil is already flooded.

What happens? Exhaustion. Disappointment. Waste of effort.

But the farmer works with the land’s rhythm, waits for the right season to sow, the right sunlight to nourish, and the right time to reap.

The result? Flow. Grace. Fulfillment.

Your Dasha is your planting season.

Your Transits are the daily weather.

And your karma is the seed

If we work with the cosmic rhythm, our spiritual harvest is aligned, and our energy is conserved. They help us understand which energy is active now, and how we can best align our efforts.

Each moment of your life is held by a larger cycle that understands what we may or may not need, to become the highest version of ourselves.

It’s about cooperation with cosmic time, more acceptance and less control.

To listen. To wait. To move when the wind favors our sail.

Dashas and Transits help us seek meaning through questions: Is it a season of inward retreat, or outward expression? Is it a time to build, or a time to rest? To question, or to teach? To surrender, or to act?

Through these reflections we match the rhythm of our inner tide, whether as a seeker, a healer, an artist, or someone just walking the quiet path. Its offers grounding in our unique path, while we all walk towards the ultimate destination, towards Divine Oneness.

So, Dashas and Transits won’t make everything effortless. But they can make everything more meaningful.  When we align with them, we begin to experience that life is happening for your evolution.

We consciously and skillfully can navigate the Maya – while we realise Paramarthika Satya – The Absolute Truth (I am the Self). Because liberation is not about escaping life, it’s about seeing through it – with clarity, courage, and compassion.

Through our own unique cosmic algorithm – Dashas and Transits, we find the rhythm of your own timing, we honor the soil of your soul, we live not by fear, but by flow.
